“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.” (Proverbs 29:25)
Why should we fear man? Why should I fear what another human can do to me? Break my trust? I won’t trust you anymore. Kill me? You’ll only be killing my mortal body, and my home is Heaven. So thank you for bringing me to my Heavenly Father. Fear will keep you from living your life the way God intended you to live it. Anxiety has kept me from doing so many things throughout my life, long before I was a believer. Has fear ever kept you from doing something? Has anxiety ever kept you from doing something? “Well, what if they don’t like me? Or I dress weird? What if I make a mistake?” If they don’t like you, oh well! What’s truly going to happen to you if someone doesn’t like you? Don’t put your own worth in the hands of man. Put your worth in God. Not everyone is going to like you. That’s okay. You’re not going to like everyone you come in contact with so don’t force that unmanageable burden on yourself. If you make a mistake, who cares? You’re human. Be humble and admit your wrongdoing and learn from your experience. And so what if you dress different? Individuality should be applauded. If it’s not, then you’re surrounding yourself with the wrong people.
Too often, we all slip into the fear of what other people think of us. We often forget what our Creator, our Father, thinks of us. “For I can do everything through Christ, who strengthens me.” (Phillipans 4:13). Our God, is a loving, merciful, and all-powerful God who loves us so deeply we cannot fathom. He will keep us safe. He will strengthen us and give us guidance. He gave us His living word. He gave us His only Son, Jesus to suffer and die on a cross so that we may reside with Him forever in the Kingdom. If that isn’t the most incredible act of love, I don’t know what is. With Valentine’s day coming up, I’d prefer God’s love and grace over a heart-shaped box of candy any day. Let the Lord be your protector. Let Him guide you. Surrender yourself because it is not my will be done. It’s thy will be done. He is the Creator of the universe. You think you know more? I tried to go that route, and please listen when I say it’s so difficult to do anything without God by your side. Let go of that fear. Pray that God will take it away. Read the Word and build your armor so that you can go out into the world and do what God has created you to do. Let Him strengthen you. The more time you spend with your Bible, the better your life will be. You’ll still struggle. But you’ll have God’s grace surrounding you and there will be so much abundance of joy and wealth. And don’t forget, wealth isn’t just fast cars and a heafty bank account.
I pray the Lord will show His mighty power over you today so that your fear will diminish. The worst thing man can do is hurt your earthly body. God has power over your soul for eternity. Personally, I fear losing the Lord’s grace and favor and love more than I fear someone hurting my earthly body. And never forget that repentance is powerful. “I am weary, God, but I can prevail.” (Proverbs 30:1). He’s fighting for you, through you, and with you. Don’t stop now. Keep going.
God bless.
With light and love, Lyss
